RECAP: Alves de Lima Leads Coyotes on Final Day of Gopher Invite

09.21.2025

MINNEAPOLIS, MINN. – The South Dakota Coyotes women's tennis team concluded competition at the Gopher Invite on Sunday, wrapping up a 3 day weekend of strong performances in Minneapolis.

On the final day of play, the Coyotes secured two more victories. Keta Shavishvili earned the first win of the day, taking her match 6-4 before it was halted due to injury. Natalia Alves de Lima followed with a hard-fought, three-set win to close out the tournament on a high note.

Overall, South Dakota recorded a solid showing at the event, finishing with seven singles victories and three doubles wins over the course of the weekend.

"I think we played a very strong tournament! Team looked faster, sharper, and stronger than last weekend. We had some solid wins against some tough opponents and I'm very satisfied with all the improvement that the players made. I'm hoping we can recover quickly and get ready for next tournament. 3 weekends of tournaments in a row is definitely tough on your body and on your mind, so recovery is a priority for these next couple days." Said Coach Zinchenko.

The Coyotes are back in action this Friday in Omaha, Nebraska to take on the Creighton Invite.
