WEST DES MOINES, IOWA– The University of South Dakota men's golf team turned in a standout performance at the Zach Johnson Invitational this week, finishing second overall in the team standings while sophomore Jack Holtz claimed individual medalist honors at Glen Oaks Country Club.
Holtz led wire-to-wire, carding rounds of 68-70-70 to finish at 5-under-par (208) and secure the tournament title. He was the only player in the field to shoot under par in all three rounds.
The Coyotes posted team scores of 291-285-280 to finish at 4-over-par (856), surging into second place with a 4-under final round, the lowest team scores of the tournament.
Shoma Taguchi added a top-5 finish of his own, placing T-4 with rounds of 71-72-68 (-2). Parker Etzel, Cole Witherow, and Joe Rohlwing also contributed solid rounds to the Coyotes team total.
The Coyotes are back in action on October 5th, competing in the Grier Jones Shocker International hosted by Wichita State.
