Bird Leads the Way at Creighton Invite

09.27.2025

OMAHA, NEB. – The South Dakota Coyotes Women's Tennis team delivered a strong performance at the Creighton Invite in Omaha, Nebraska, with standout play from Selena Bird, who went undefeated in singles and claimed her bracket title.

The tournament took place Friday and Saturday, and the Coyotes made the most of their time on the court. In addition to Bird's flawless singles performance, the doubles teams also saw success. On Friday, Anna Medveyedeva and Keta Shavishvilli secured two victories. Saturday featured a win from the pairing of Medveyedeva and Kayleigh Didderiens, followed by a dominant 6-0 victory from Bird and Shavishvilli to close out doubles play on a high note for South Dakota.

"I think it was our best tournament so far. Girls really came together as a team and battled hard representing South Dakota. Cherry on top was our captain - Selena who went undefeated in her singles play and winning her bracket. As a coach, I'm excited to see the progress of players and can't wait to get on the courts to continue our improvement. Go Yotes!" said coach Zinchenko.

The Coyotes return to action on October 16th at the ITA Regional Championship in Norman, Oklahoma.
