Rounds, Ahrendt, and Matthews named Peak Performers of the Week

Sioux Falls, S.D. — After two successful dual meets for South Dakota this past weekend, the Summit League name Nick Rounds, Gabbie Ahrendt, and Charlie Matthews the Kwik Star Peak Performers of the week.
 
Nick Rounds | So. | West Des Moines, Iowa | Dowling Catholic HS
 
Rounds was named the male swimmer of the week after competing in eight races over two meets and winning seven of those, with a lone second place finish in a relay.  
 
  • Won the 50 free vs Omaha with a time of 20.28
  • Won the 100 free vs Omaha with a time of 46.01
  • Won the 200 Medley relay vs Omaha with an anchor split of 19.36
  • Placed second in the 200 free relay vs Omaha with a lead off split of 20.28
  • Won the 50 free vs SDSU with a time of 20.33
  • Won the 100 fly vs SDSU with a time of 49.56
  • Won the 200 medley relay vs SDSU with an anchor split of 19.62
  • Won the 200 free relay vs SDSU with an anchor split of 19.53
 
 
Gabbie Ahrendt | Jr. | Sioux Falls, S.D. | Harrisburg HS
 
Ahrendt was a big part of many successful relays over the weekend while also claiming multiple individual wins which earned her this week's female swimmer of the week title. 
 
  • Won 100 fly vs Omaha with a time of 57.53
  • Placed third in the 200 free vs Omaha with a time of 1:56.14
  • Placed second in the 200 free relay vs Omaha with a split of 24.07
  • Placed second in the 200 medley relay vs Omaha with a fly split of 25.11
  • Won the 100 free vs SDSU with a time of 53.56
  • Won the 100 fly vs SDSU with a time of 57.72
  • Placed second in the 100 back vs SDSU with a time of 58.19
  • Won the 200 medley relay vs SDSU with a fly split of 25.47
 
Charlie Matthews | Jr. | Overland Park, Kan. | Olathe East HS
 
Matthews competed in both diving events at both duals and came away with two first place finishes and his first career NCAA zone qualifying score on the 1 meter boards.
 
  • Won the 1M dive vs Omaha with a score of 306.68, a NCAA zone diving championships qualifying score
  • Placed fifth in the 3M dive vs Omaha with a score of 278.15
  • Won the 3M dive vs SDSU with a score of 277.70
  • Placed second in the 1M dive vs SDSU with a score of 280.00
