SIOUX FALLS, S.D. — South Dakota men's golfer Cole Witherow has been named the Summit League Golfer of the Week following his runner-up finish at the Badger Invitational in Madison, Wisconsin.

Witherow carded an 11-under 205 over three rounds at the University of Wisconsin Golf Course, finishing one stroke behind the individual champion. He opened the tournament with a 2-under 70 before firing a 5-under 67 in the second round and a 4-under 68 in the final round.

The runner-up finish marked the second second-place finish of Witherow's collegiate career. He was the top-finishing golfer among the five Summit League teams competing at the Badger Invitational, finishing ahead of golfers from South Dakota State, North Dakota, North Dakota State and Omaha.

Witherow's performance helped the Coyotes finish tied for seventh in the 19-team field. South Dakota finished the three-round tournament at 3-over 867.

The award marks Witherow's first Summit League Golfer of the Week honor of his career.
