COLUMBIA, Mo.— South Dakota fell in both contests Friday at Mizzou Softball Stadium, dropping a 9-4 game to Iowa State before falling 9-4 to Missouri later in the evening.
South Dakota 4, Iowa State 9
The Coyotes struck first in the opener against Iowa State, plating two runs in the second inning.
Abi Brown drew a leadoff walk and
Ella McGee followed with a double to center. A wild pitch allowed Brown to score the first run of the game before
Autumn Iversen drove in McGee on a groundout to give USD a 2-0 lead.
Iowa State answered in the third inning on a two-run home run by McKenna Andrews to tie the game. The Cyclones moved ahead in the fourth when Hayleigh Oliver launched a two-run homer to center and extended the lead with three runs in the sixth on a home run from Jessie Clemons. Iowa State added two more runs in the seventh to make it 9-2.
South Dakota rallied in the bottom of the seventh. McGee worked a walk to start the inning and
Brylee Hempey was hit by a pitch. After
Autumn Iversen singled to load the bases,
Sara Iburg brought in a run on a fielder's choice and
Kiya Johnson followed with an RBI single to trim the deficit to 9-4 before the rally ended.
Johnson led the Coyotes with two hits and an RBI while McGee doubled and scored twice.

South Dakota 4, Missouri 9
Missouri struck first in the night game with a run in the opening inning, but the Coyotes answered in the second when Iversen blasted a two-run home run to left field to give USD a 2-1 lead.
The Tigers responded in the third inning as Sidney Forrester tied the game with a solo home run before Abby Carr delivered a three-run shot to put Missouri in front 5-2.
South Dakota battled back in the fourth inning.
Abi Brown singled and Iversen drew a walk before
Camryn Kersten lined a two-run single to left field to cut the deficit to 5-4.
Missouri pulled away in the bottom of the inning. Sophie Smith hit a two-run double, and Madison Uptegrove followed with another two-run double as the Tigers stretched the lead to 9-4.
Kersten finished with two hits and two RBIs while Iversen scored twice and drove in two with her home run.
Brylee Hempey also recorded two hits off the bench.
South Dakota totaled 15 hits across the two games but was unable to overcome big middle innings from Iowa State and Missouri.
