Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 COLUMBIA, Mo.— South Dakota delivered a thrilling comeback Saturday morning at Mizzou Softball Stadium, scoring five runs in the seventh inning to defeat Minnesota 5-4.

The Coyotes trailed 4-0 entering the final frame after Minnesota scored once in the second inning and added three more in the fourth. South Dakota stayed within striking distance thanks to a strong effort in the circle from Madison Evans, who threw six innings while keeping the Gophers from adding to their lead.

South Dakota's offense finally broke through in the seventh. Autumn Iversen led off the inning with a walk and Ella McGee followed with a double to put two runners in scoring position. A pair of wild pitches brought both runners home to cut the deficit in half.

Sara Iburg kept the rally going with a single up the middle and Kiya Johnson added an infield hit to load the bases. Brooke Carey brought home another run on a fielder's choice to make it a one-run game before Evans delivered the biggest swing of the day, driving a triple to right center that scored two runs and gave the Coyotes a 5-4 lead.

Aubrey Lensmeyer earned the win after recording the final out of the sixth inning, while Evans returned to the circle in the seventh to secure the save and close out the comeback victory.
McGee and Iburg each recorded two hits for the Coyotes as South Dakota totaled seven hits in the win.

Mizzou struck early in game two as they put up three runs per inning in the first three giving them a 9-0 lead that they would carry the rest of the game. 
 
USD was held off the bases besides a double by Abi Brown in the third inning and two walks in the bottom in the fifth.
