VERMILLION, S.D. — South Dakota continues their road trip from the weekend's games in Missouri to Lawrence, Kansas where they will play one game against the Jayhawks.

LAST TIME OUT: MIZZOU BYE-WEEK GAMES & MIDWEEK GAME
USD went to Columbia to take on Power 4 competition including Iowa State, Minnesota, and Missouri. They left 1-3 on the weekend with a 5-4 win over Minnesota in game three. The Gophers held the Yotes for six innings until they put up an impressive rally in the top of the seventh. Madison Evans plated the tying and go ahead runs with a triple to cap the rally. 
 
Evans and Aubrey Lensmeyer combined their efforts in the circle to limit the Gophers and secure the win. Lensmeyer earned the win while Evans was credited with a save. 
 
The Yotes also took on Mount Marty last Tuesday at home where the offense exploded for a 14-0 win. Autumn Iversen led the offense with five RBIs, finishing 2-for-3 with a triple and two runs scored. Evans also had a big day at the plate, going 3-for-3 with a triple, a double, three runs scored and an RBI. Brooke Carey added two hits and two RBIs, while Ella McGee, Delaney White and Sara Iburg each drove in runs as part of the Coyotes' 12-hit performance.

In the circle, four South Dakota pitchers combined for the shutout. Evans struck out three in 1.2 innings before Campbell German, Peyton Paulsen and Aubrey Lensmeyer finished the game, limiting Mount Marty to just three hits.
 
IN THE CIRCLE 
Evans leads the way in the circle with a 4.38 ERA and 88.0 innings pitched. She's dealt 78 strikeouts and given up only 55 earned runs for five complete game wins. Evans leads the Summit League in both innings pitched and strikeouts. 
 
AT THE PLATE
Carey continues to lead the Yotes overall with a .391 average on the season which sits at 8^th in the Summit League with 36 hits including nine doubles and 12 RBIs. She has 14 multi-hit games on the season. 
 
Camryn Kersten has jumped to second in team average at .315 with three doubles and 10 RBI this season. 
 
ABOUT KANSAS
Kansas has started the season 20-8 overall and comes off a two game win streak. They last played a three game series against Houston where they went 2-1 with a 18-1 win in five innings and an 11-8 win.
 
Presley Limbaugh leads the Jayhawks with a .420 average with 37 hits and 27 runs scored. Ella Boyer provides the power with 11 home runs and 39 RBI. 
 
Kansas has a large pitching staff with Chloe Barber and Kaelee Washington taking care of most of the innings. They both have five wins on the season. 
 
VS KANSAS
South Dakota's overall record when playing Kansas is 1-5 with the two last matchups in 2022. They played in Lawrence and lost 6-14 and 1-6.
