Marlee Mülla, Sara Reifenrath, and Chris Nilsen are scheduled to compete at World Championships this weekend

PREVIEW: Three athletes with USD ties to compete at World Championships in Poland

TORÚN, Poland – Coyote alums Chris Nilsen and Sara Reifenrath are joined by current South Dakota senior Marleen Mülla as Coyotes competing at the World Athletics Indoor Championships this weekend.
 
Nilsen and Reifenrath represent the USA and Mülla will represent her home country of Estonia at the meet.
 
Nilsen is back at a World Championships or Olympic event for the first time since the 2024 Paris Olympics. His best Indoor World Championship finish is third in 2022, and his best overall World Championship finish is second (2021 Toyko Olympics, 2022 Outdoor Worlds).

Reifenrath is in the Team USA relay pool for the women's 4x400 and the mixed 4x400 relay teams. She is making her debut on the World stage after a successful collegiate career with the Yotes, winning 23 Summit League titles.

Mülla is competing in the women's pole vault competition for the second straight World Championship event, with her first competition on the world stage was at the 2025 Outdoor Championships. Mülla's strong indoor season for the Yotes, capped with a runner-up finish at the NCAA Indoor Championships last weekend.
 
MEET INFORMATION
Events that could feature Coyotes start at 6 a.m. CT Saturday with the mixed 4x400 relay. Chris Nilsen will be in competition at 12:25 p.m. CT Saturday in the men's pole vault. On Sunday, Mülla will compete at 11:45 a.m. in the women's pole vault. Live results can be found here.
