SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – South Dakota track and field has claimed two Kwik Star Summit League Peak Performer of the Week honors this week as
Marleen Mülla and
Brandon Vander Sluis swept the field honors this week.
Mülla is the third different Coyote to win the women's field honor in three consecutive weeks after her performance over the weekend in the Sioux City Relays. Mülla cleared 13-10 in the pole vault to win the competition.
That height ties her for 23
rd in the NCAA this season after her first competition after a long indoor season that ended at the World Championships in Poland last month. She leads the Summit League and is tied for 13
th in the West Region. This is Mülla's fifth outdoor weekly honor.
Vander Sluis set outdoor bests in both the shot put and discus Friday at the Sioux City Relays. His shot put mark of 60-6 ¾ was first at the meet and moved him to fourth on the USD Outdoor Top 10. He ranks 29
th in the NCAA, 14
th in the West Region, and first in the Summit League.
In the discus, Vander Sluis' personal best of 170-10 has him 10
th on the USD top 10 and 73
rd in the NCAA West Region. He is third in the Summit League in the event.
South Dakota is up to four Peak Performer of the Week honors in three weeks of outdoor season.
