SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – South Dakota pole vault had seven athletes record outdoor personal bests over the weekend at the Drake Relays, and their two top finishers, Anna Willis and Caelan Harland, swept the Kwik Star Summit League Outdoor Field Peak Performer of the Week honors, announced by the league office Tuesday.
 
Willis, who now has three outdoor weekly honors in five weeks of the outdoor season, set the school record and Drake Relays record over the weekend with her clearance of 15-2 ¼ (4.63m). She broke the Drake Relays record of 14-4 set in 2024 and the USD outdoor program record of 15-1, previously held by Emily Grove. Willis joined Grove and teammate Marleen Mülla as USD women's pole vaulters to clear 15-0 during the outdoor season. During the indoor season, Mülla and Willis became the first two Coyotes over 15-0 indoor.
 
Willis now ranks second in the NCAA this outdoor season, and fourth in the World during the outdoor season, with her performance at the Drake Relays. She is a two-time all-American and the USA U20 Champion from last summer. Her three indoor weekly Peak Performer honors this season ties her for fourth most in a single season in Summit League history. The record for a single season is four weekly awards, held by three athletes.
 
For Caelan Harland, he's risen up the USD Top 10 in the men's pole vault each week of his freshman outdoor season, and his 18-2 ¾ result at the Drake Relays to win the Championship Division places him in fourth on the USD Outdoor Top 10. It was the first time the freshman broke 18-0 in his career, becoming the sixth USD men's pole vaulter to have achieved that milestone outdoor.
 
Harland now ranks 14^th in the NCAA this season in the pole vault. He is 6^th in the NCAA's West Region and first in the Summit League. Harland won the Summit League indoor pole vault title and is looking to be the first freshman pole vaulter to sweep the Summit League titles since Chris Nilsen swept the Summit League titles as a freshman in 2017.
