NEW YORK, N.Y. ­— Five athletes who competed or coach at USD are set to compete at the United States Track & Field Championships this week at Icahn Stadium in New York, New York.
 
Three of the four athletes who competed at South Dakota are pole vaulters. Current Yote vaulter and three-time first team all-American Anna Willis is set for her first USATF Championships, joining USD Alum Emily Grove in the women's pole vault. Chris Nilsen, one of USD's two Division I National Champions and 2020 Olympic Silver medalist, is competing in the men's pole vault.
 
The lone USD alum competing on the track is Sara Reifenrath in the women's 400-meters. Reifenrath ran at the Indoor World Championships on the USA Mixed 4x400 relay squad and is competing at her second USATF Championships. The 23-time Summit League champion as a Yote placed 19^th at the USATF Championships in the 400 last summer in Eugene.
 
The first athlete with USD ties to compete this weekend will be Reifenrath in the 400-meter first round, scheduled for 4:19 p.m. Eastern Time (3:19 p.m. Central Time) Friday. The women's pole vault competition featuring Willis and Grove is scheduled for 2:50 p.m. ET (1:50 p.m. CT) Saturday. Nilsen will go for his fourth USATF Championship in the men's pole vault competition, scheduled for 2:30 p.m. ET (1:30 CT) Sunday afternoon.
 
A USD volunteer assistant coach is also competing this weekend. Maggie Ewen, who assists throws coach Kyle Long and trains in Vermillion, is competing in the women's shot put Saturday at 3:40 p.m. ET (2:40 CT).
