Timmerman wins first Peak Performer honor of the season

09.08.2026

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. — For the first time since October 2024, South Dakota cross country has a Summit League Peak Performer of the Week as Geneva Timmerman brings home the women's award for the first week of the season, announced Tuesday by the league office.

Timmerman ran at the Augustana Twilight Friday night, recording a time of 16:59.0 to win the race by 11.1 seconds. It was a personal best time in the 5k distance for Timmerman, who led the Coyotes to a first-place team finish by 30 points over second place.

Timmerman was an all-Summit League cross country runner last season and earned all-Summit League honors in the 5,000-meters during the outdoor track season. This is her first Peak Performer honor of her career across cross country and track and field, and she's the first Coyote to win a cross country Peak Performer honor since Madison Brouwer in 2024.

South Dakota is off this week before running at the Greeno/Dirksen Invite in Lincoln, Neb. on Sept. 19.
