Dan Lennon Award established to honor former coach

Inaugural Dan Lennon Award
The Dan Lennon Award was established in 1991 in honor of the former Coyote head track and field coach. Lennon organized the first USD Invitational track meet on April 13, 1949. Lennon is a member of the South Dakota Coyote Sports Hall of Fame. The high school division was added in 1954. The meet, which no longer includes college/university squads, was renamed the Dan Lennon Invitational in 1975. Lennon coached USD from 1949-1975. Lennon was honored during the first day of the meet.
