SIOUX FALLS, S.D. -- Eric Dufek of the South Dakota men's swimming and diving squad was today (May 8, 2003) named to the North Central Conference men's All-Academic At-Large team by a vote of the league's sports information directors.
Dufek, a senior from Lander, Wyo., has a 3.709 GPA in chemistry/education. Dufek owns the fifth best time in the 200 fly in USD school history (1:58.59) and has seven top 10 finishes at the NCC meet.
Named honorable mention Academic All-American by the College Swim Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) in 2002, he was selected NCC Swimmer of the Week on Feb. 4, 2003. In addition, he was named national swimmer of the week by CollegeSwimming.com in February, 2003.
At the 2003 NCC swimming and diving championships, he was 10th in the 200 IM (1:59.21), 8th in the 200 fly (1:58.65) and 11th in the 100 fly (52.76).
Three other Coyotes were named honorable mention on the NCC Academic At-Large team. They included Mark Anderson, a sophomore diving team member from Loveland, Colo.; Tim Byers, a sophomore swimmer from Billings, Mont.; and Tyler Scheer, a sophomore swimmer from Lincoln, Neb.
