USD's Colte Haines Named to ESPN The Magazine District VII Academic First Team

VERMILLION, S.D. -- Colte Haines of the South Dakota Men's Track and Field Team has been named to the 2007 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District VII Men's Track and Field/Cross Country Squad, according to an announcement released on Thursday, June 7 by CoSIDA (College Sports Information Directors of America). The team was determined by a vote of the district VII sports information directors.

With his selection to the squad, Haines now advances to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-American national ballot.

Haines, a junior from White Lake, S.D., has a 3.912 GPA in mathematics and computer science. Haines, who was redshirted during the outdoor season this spring, won the triple jump (45'10.75) and finished third in the long jump (22'04.50) at the 2007 NCC Indoor Championships as he helped USD to a team title. Haines was named to the 2007 NCC Academic Track and Field/Cross Country squad and the NCC Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll for Indoor Track and Field. A member of the SAAC at USD, he received a Coyote Character Award from USD's SAAC in 2007. He will do an internship at NASA in California in summer of 2007.
