South Dakota track and field opened the 2026 outdoor slate with athletes at the Wildcat Classic in Wayne, Neb. and the Raleigh Relays in Raleigh, N.C. Friday and Saturday.

TOP PERFORMERS
• Friday night in Raleigh,
Geneva Timmerman ran the second fastest 10k in school history, running 34:47.01 to place 34
th at the Raleigh Relays hosted by North Carolina State.
•
Lillian Allison made her outdoor debut this weekend and won the discus with a 160-1 mark. That distance ranks eighth on the USD Outdoor Top 10.
•
Delaney Smith led the group of throwers at Wayne State Friday with a runner-up finish in the weight throw, recording a season-opening 190-1 (57.94m).
•
Drew Beason ran in the 5000-meters at the Raleigh Relays, running 17:14.43.
•
Kali Ringstmeyer's outdoor debut in the 200-meters resulted in a first place finish with a time of 24.69.
•
Bre Dunn had a strong Saturday, winning the 400-meter hurdles in 1:03.73 and placing third in the long jump at 17-8 ¾ (5.40m).
