LAWRENCE, KAN. - The University of South Dakota fell to Kansas swimming and diving, 197-91, and Northern Iowa, 160-127, Saturday afternoon at Robinson Natatorium in a double-dual.
The University of South Dakota 400 Freestyle relay team consisting of
Stacy Bjorlie (Sr., Austin, Minn.), Rita Buschbacher (So., Brighton, Mich., Erin Wagoner (Sr., Newcastle, Wyo.) and Danielle Bolin (Jr., Norfolk, Neb.) finished second while the Coyotes 400 Medley Relay teams took fourth and fifth.
The fourth place team included Emily Connelly (Jr., Lincoln, Neb.), Kayla Smith (Fr., Woodbury, Minn.), Wagoner, and Bjorlie and the fifth place team was Mary Kilma (Sr., Leavenworth, Kan.), Shannon Moceri (Fr., South Lyon, Mich.), Meredith Howell (Jr., Lenexa, Kan.) and Buschbacher.
Individually, Sara Holman (Sr., Bloomington, Minn.) finished third in the 1000 Freestyle and third in the 500 Freestyle while Moceri earned second place in the 200 Breaststroke (2:31.26) and also finished fifth in the 100 Breaststroke.
Wagner finished second in the 100 Butterfly (59.46) while Howell finished fifth in the 100 Butterfly. The duo also placed sixth and seven in the 200 Butterfly with times of 2:17.36 and 2:18.75.
Bjorlie placed fourth in the 50 Freestyle with a time of 25.01 and also finished sixth in the 100 Freestyle.
Saddie Collins (So., Hastings, Minn.) best finish of the day was placing second in the 200 IM while she also finished fifth in the 200 Breaststroke.
KU was victorious in all but one event. KU's diving team swept the South Dakota diving team in both the 1 meter and 3 meter competitions.
Kansas defeated University of Northern Iowa, 191-87.
USD's next action will be on Fri, Jan. 30, in Grand Forks at University of North Dakota beginning at 2 p.m. On Sat., Jan. 31, the Coyotes will return home to face University of Nebraska-Omaha at 10 a.m. in the DakotaDome.
