Vermillion, S.D. - Freshman Bethany Buell has been selected the Great West Conference Track Athlete of the Week, the league office announced on Friday. The weekly honor is the second consecutive for Buell.

A native of St. Louis, Mo., Buell continued to impress this indoor season by breaking her own USD school record in the women's pole vault with an overall title at the Graphic Edge Alumni Meet last Saturday in Vermillion, S.D. She cleared 13-3 to improve the record by 3 1/2 inches and currently ranks 15th in the nation in the event. Buell made it over the bar on six of her nine vaults before fouling out at 13-6.

The Coyote track and field teams compete at the Wisconsin Elite Invitational in Madison, Wis., and the National Pole Vault Summit in Reno, Nev., tomorrow.
