Vermillion, S.D. - USD sophomore Emma Erickson has been named the Great West Conference Track Athlete of the Week, the league announced on Thursday. The weekly honor is the second of Erickson's career and third consecutive for the Coyote women.

A native of Gayville, S.D., Erickson defeated a strong field by over seven seconds en route to capturing the 800-meter run with a 2:11.2 at the Wisconsin Elite Invitational last Saturday in Madison, Wis. The impressive performance continued a solid indoor season for Erickson, who has finished in the top three in all five individual races so far while winning three times.

The Coyotes host the John Dalton Meet on Saturday in the DakotaDome. High school events kick off at 8 a.m. and the college/university division begins at 10 a.m.
