Hoffman Earns Academic All-District Honors

VERMILLION, S.D. -- University of South Dakota sophomore swimmer Elizabeth Hoffman has been named to the ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District 7 second team, the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) announced on Thursday.

Hoffman (Eureka, S.D.) earned the honor for the first time in her collegiate career. Hoffman has a 3.94 cumulative GPA and is majoring in biology with a pre-medicine emphasis.

Hoffman had an outstanding sophomore season for USD, becoming the first Coyote to win a Summit League Championship when she won the 200 freestyle in February. She also posted runner-up finishes in the 500 freestyle and 100 freestyle at the Summit League Championships. She finished the year with 24 first-place finishes, including wins against programs such as North Dakota, Iowa State, South Dakota State and Kansas.

Hoffman also set school records in the 100, 200, 500 and 1,000 freestyle events in 2009-10.

To qualify for CoSIDA All-District honors, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) at his/her current institution.
