MINNEAPOLIS, Minn.—South Dakota women’s swimming and diving totaled seven top-10 finishes on day two of the Minnesota Challenge, including two top-three relay finishes. No team scores were kept at the event.
An 800-yard freestyle relay team of Lydia Engberg, Stacie Kjelden, Miranda Vlach-Buller and Charlotte Yaw were the top ‘Yote finishers on the day, taking second-place with a time of 8:26.35.
Yaw later teamed up with Rachel Kranda, Stephanie Goddard and Engberg to take third in the 400 free relay (3:47.13).
Six Coyote individuals recorded top 10 finishes. Kranda took seventh and Thompson took eighth in the 200 backstroke, timing 2:17.37 and 2:17.51, respectively. Thompson’s time bettered her previous career-best by more than eight seconds.
Shroyer finished seventh in the 200 butterfly in 2:21.08, Yaw took eighth place in the 200 freestyle, finishing in 1:58.82, Goddard was eighth in the 200 breaststroke in 2:37.02 and Kjelden time 5:10.51 in the 400 IM. All four of the times were new season-bests.
The Coyotes will have 10 days off before returning to competition on the Summit League Championships on Feb. 20 in Rochester, Mich. The championship meet is a four-day event.
