Meet ResultsAMES, Iowa — The South Dakota swimming and diving team (2-4, 1-1 SL) won six events but lost to Iowa State (3-1, 1-0 Big 12) 171-129 and Texas Christian (3-3, 0-2 Big 12) 170-130 at the ISU and TCU Triangular which was held at Beyer Pool on Friday and Saturday.
Junior
Sam Schutt led the women's side with a win in the 200-yard freestyle with a final time of 1:53.57. She also placed second in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 53.12.
For the men, it was freshman
Jared Thorson who came up with the most wins. Thorson won the 100-yard butterfly as he cruised to a final time of 51.42. Thorson was also on the 400-yard freestyle relay team with junior
Jacob Knowles, senior
Ean Kiddoo, and freshman
Hunter Padgett that won with a time of 3:13.83. Thorson also placed second in the 50-yard freestyle with 21.86 and was on the 200-yard medley relay team that placed second with 1:36.59. Senior
Ian Ford, Knowles, and sophomore
Eric Erlenmeyer were also on the team.
Padgett not only got first on the 400-yard freestyle relay, but he also won the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 4:43.99. Padgett swam the 200-yard freestyle and placed third with 1:44.45
Junior
Adam Fenton won the 200-yard medley as he cruised to a time of 2:00.45
Knowles placed second in the 200-yard breaststroke with 2:11.93 and the in the 100-yard breaststroke with 59.28.
Ford came in second in the 200-yard backstroke with 1:59.54.
In diving, junior
Greysen Hertting placed second in the one-meter and three-meter dives with 292.80 and 260.05, respectively.
The men swept the one-meter dive. Senior
Connor Stephens won the event with 235.25, fellow classmate
Chase Testa came in second with 228.50, and freshman
Tristan Gens was third with 223.15.
Testa placed third in the three meter dive with 276.20.
The meet also had a pentathlon race as well. Thorson finished in the highest spot for the men. He placed third with 2:34.59 and freshman
Taylor Kidd finished 12
th for the women with a time of 2:59.77.
The teams return to the pool on Wednesday and host South Dakota State at 2 p.m. at the DakotaDome.
