PEORIA, Ill.—South Dakota freshman
Julia Noah placed 20th overall to lead the Coyotes to a fifth-place finish on the women's side at the Bradley Classic at Newman Golf Course on Friday afternoon. The Coyote men placed 20th.
Nationally ranked No. 2 Colorado captured the women's title with 54 points. Northern Illinois finished runner-up with 108. Northern Iowa took third with 159 points, Bradley was fourth with 199 points and South Dakota finished fifth with 210 points.
Noah clocked her best time of the season after crossing the finish in 21 minutes, 22.1 seconds for 20th place.
Junior
Erin Wetzstein and sophomore
Megan Billington were the second and third Coyotes across the line. Wetzstein clocked 21:41.2 for 30th and Billington finished in 21:52.7 for 45th place.
Sophomores
Lindsay Joyce and
Madeline Huglen took 55th and 60th, respectively, to tally up the Coyotes' score. Joyce crossed the line in 22:02.2 and Huglen was two seconds behind in 22:04.2. Both times were personal bests. Sophomore
Bethany Kozak and freshman
Kianna Stewart rounded out the top seven Coyote performances in 106th and 110th, respectively.
Saint Louis captured the men's race with 103 points, edging out runner-up Windsor with 128 points. South Dakota tallied 512 points in its 20th-place finish.
Senior
Mach Dojiok led the Coyote men with a 63rd-place finish. Dojiok recorded a personal best time of 25:36.8 in the race, dropping 14 seconds off his record from 2014.
Junior
Brice Cowman and sophomore
Pierce Libbey finished two seconds apart in 96th and 99th, respectively. Cowman clocked 26:01.8 and Libbey followed in 26:03.4.
Sophomores
Hunter Paulsen and
Jacob Simmons rounded out the Coyote scorers. Paulsen took 102nd with a time of 26:06.9 and Simmons clocked 26:55.1 for 152nd.
The Bradley Classic served as the regular season finale.
South Dakota travels to Macomb, Ill., for the Summit League Championship on Oct. 29 hosted by Western Illinois. The Coyote women are two-time defending Summit League champions.
