Wetzstein breaks 1500 record at Texas Relays

AUSTIN, Texas—South Dakota senior Katie Wetzstein broke her own school record in the 1,500 meter run at the Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays inside Mike A. Myers Stadium.
 
Wetzstein took fourth overall and was the second collegiate in the event, crossing the finish line in 4 minutes, 21.05 seconds. Wetzstein bettered her own school record from a year ago by one second.
 
Senior Analisa Huschle placed eighth in the long jump with a leap of 19-4 ¾.
 
Sophomore Danielle Waldner launched the shot put 50-4 for ninth place. Walder three inches under her school record.
 
In the men's shot put, senior Kyle McKelvey finished 10th with a throw of 56-9 ¼.
 
Senior Emily Grove took 11th in the pole vault after clearing 13-3 ½.
 
The Coyote track and field team travels to Lincoln, Neb., next Saturday for the Husker Spring Invite.
