Meet Results
LAWRENCE, Kan.—The South Dakota swimming and diving team fell short to both Kansas (275-77) and Missouri State (491-208) at the Kansas Tri-Duals held at the Robinson Natatorium Friday and Saturday. Of the 38 events, South Dakota captured one event along with a number of second- and third-place finishes.
For the Coyote men, on the diving board, South Dakota took the top three places in the three-meter dive with sophomore
Isaac Morris in first (314.00 points), senior
Brady Saunders in second (251.40) and junior
Tristan Gens in third (248.00).
Junior
Hunter Padgett had an all-around successful weekend as he finished second in both the men's 200-yard freestyle (1:44.09) and the 100-yard freestyle (47.63) while taking third in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 21.59. Padgett was also a part of the 200-yard freestyle relay, with senior
Eric Erlenmeyer, junior
Jared Thorson and freshman
Ben Kopp, which took second with a time of 1:26.33.
Other notable second-place finishes for the men include sophomore
Christian Fossum in the 400-yard individual medley (4:24.14), Kopp in the 200-yard backstroke (1:57.64), Thorson in the 100-yard butterfly (53.79), sophomore
Josh Sorbe in the 500-yard freestyle (5:03.10) and freshman
Elbert Chuang in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:09.23).
On the women's side, sophomore
Sabrina Sabadeanu finished second in the 200-yard individual medley (2:08.50) and was three-tenths of a second away from runner-up in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 57.92. Sabadeanu also finished fourth in both the 400-yard individual medley (4:35.53) and the 200-yard backstroke (2:04.58).
Sophomore
Jordan Thielbar was the first Coyote in for the 1,000-yard freestyle and took fourth place with a time of 10:48.58 with freshman
Hannah Lange right behind in fifth (10:50.58).
Senior
Kassidie Cornell and junior
Morgan Holt took fifth in their individual events. Cornell came in at 1:07.93 in the 100-yard breaststroke and Holt came in at 2:11.29 in the 200-yard butterfly.
The 800-yard freestyle relay consisting of junior
Quinn Fawcett, junior
Taylor Kidd, sophomore
Charlie Mechling and senior
Emily Lundstrom claimed fourth with a time of 8:05.17. The 200-yard freestyle relay with junior
Theresa Godlewski, junior
Hannah Gupton, Fawcett and Kidd also captured fourth with a time of 1:40.86.
One the diving board, junior
Sarah Schank finished third in the three-meter dive (241.70) and fourth in the one-meter (229.35). Freshman
Haley Pederson finished sixth in the one-meter dive (201.20) and seventh in the three-meter (196.40).
The Coyote women return to the DakotaDome pool at 5 p.m. Friday as they host Northern Iowa.
