MANKATO, Minn.—The Coyote women's swimming and diving team opened their season at Minnesota State Friday with a 154-146 win in the Maverick's Highland Center Pool.
South Dakota had eight Coyotes come in first of the 16 events. Sophomore
Sabrina Sabadeanu won three individual events while junior
Sarah Schank swept both dives.
Sabadeanu started her sophomore season with a bang as she won her first single event of the night, the 100-yard backstroke with a 58.58 time. She continued her evening winning the 200-yard backstroke (2:05.61) and the 200-yard individual medley (2:10.12).
Schank came out on top in both the one-meter dive (248.00) and the three-meter dive (265.85). Freshman
Haley Pederson made her mark with the Coyotes coming in right behind Schank in both the one-meter (233.75) and three-meter (248.85).
The Coyotes swept three more events. Sophomore
Jordan Thielbar won the 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 10:49.07 with freshman
Hannah Lange making her first collegiate appearance coming in second with a 10:54.47. Junior
Quinn Fawcett took the 500-yard freestyle with a 5:16.42 time as Thielbar came in second with 5:16.91.

Morgan Holt won the 200-yard butterfly with her time of 2:09.39.
Junior
Theresa Godlewski was 0.04 seconds away from taking the 100-yard freestyle with her 53.88 time. Godlewski came in behind Minnesota State's Maggie Knier who swam a 53.84.
The Coyote women continue their season with the South Dakota Alumni Meet Friday Oct. 13, followed by the Kansas Tri-Duals Friday, Oct. 20.
