Padgett's three victories highlight day one at USD Tri-Duals

Day One Results

SIOUX FALLS, S.D.—After day one in the Midco® Aquatic Center at the USD Tri-Duals, the Coyote men's swimming and diving team lead both St. Cloud State (155-88) and South Dakota State (126.50-116.50). The South Dakota women are split with St. Cloud State (143.50-99.50) and South Dakota State (111-130).
 
To start off the night for the women, Sarah Schank captured both the one-meter dive (258.75) and the three-meter dive (277.05). Haley Pederson finishing right behind Schank in the one-meter with 249.60 and took fourth in the three-meter with 252.20.
 
The Coyote women continued on to capture the 400-yard medley relay with a time of 3 minutes, 53.93 seconds. The relay consisted of Sabrina Sabadeanu, Kassidie Cornell, Morgan Holt and Theresa Godlewski.
 
Individually, Sabadeanu came out on top in the 400-yard individual medley with the time of 4:32.35 with Abby Hollub right behind in 4:36.26. Sabadeanu also took the 100-yard backstroke with a finish of 56.77 seconds.
 
On the men's side, Hunter Padgett took two individual events the 200-yard freestyle (1:42.74) and the 100-yard freestyle (46.69).
 
Eric Erlenmeyer finished first in the 50-yard freestyle with 21.05 seconds with Elbert Chuang coming in at third in 21.41. Alongside his third-place finish, Chuang took the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 57.33.
 
Josh Sorbe finished on top of the 500-yard freestyle (4:52.50) with Jack Lawrence right behind him with a 4:52.91.
 
Two of the relays captured first place for the men. The 400-yard medley relay consisting of Ben Kopp, Chuang, Jared Thorson and Padgett took the gold with a time of 3:27.16. The 200-yard freestyle relay consisting of Erlenmeyer, Thorson, Kopp and Kyle Weis finished with a 1:25.32.
 
One the diving board, Isaac Morris finished third in the one-meter dive (284.70) and fourth in the three-meter dive (309.55).
 
The Coyotes return to the pool at 10 a.m. Saturday for day two of the USD Tri-Duals.
