Day Two Results
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. — After the second and final day of the USD Tri-Duals in the Midco
® Aquatic Center, the South Dakota men and women split with their competition. The Coyote men beat St. Cloud State (145-98), but fell to South Dakota State (110.50-132.50). The South Dakota women also beat St. Cloud State (141-102), but came up short to South Dakota State (119.50-121.50).
The Coyote women captured six event victories on day two. On the diving board,
Sarah Schank took the one-meter dive with 258.30 and the three-meter dive with 292.60.
Haley Pederson took second place in the one-meter with 252.90 and fourth place with 239.40.
Sabrina Sabadeanu captured the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2 minutes, 9.32 seconds.
Abby Hollub finished right behind Sabadeanu to claim second with a finish of 2:11.11 seconds.
Sabadeanu also won the 200-yard backstroke, with a finishing time of 2:03.72.
Theresa Godlewski finished just behind for second place with the time of 2:08.72.
Godlewski tied with South Dakota State's Kristin Erff for first place in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 24.48.
Morgan Holt finished first in the 200-yard butterfly with a finishing time of 2:07.71.
In the 1650-yard freestyle,
Hannah Lange took second place with a finish of 17:50.87 followed by
Jordan Thielbar in third place with a time of 18:08.05.
The 400-yard freestyle relay team consisting of
Taylor Kidd,
Charlie Mechling,
Hannah Tietjen and
Quinn Fawcett finished second with a time of 3:35.87.
Other notable finishes for the South Dakota women include Kidd taking third in the 100-yard freestyle (54.61) and Thielbar finishing third in the 500-yard freestyle (5:14.13) with Fawcett right behind her (5:14.89).
For the Coyote men,
Hunter Padgett was a force to be reckoned with as he claimed both the 200-yard freestyle (1:43.77) and the 500-yard freestyle (4:48.92).
Ben Kopp tied for first with South Dakota State's Wyatt Rumrill in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 1:59.08. Kopp was also a part of the 200-yard medley relay team with
James Ryan,
Jared Thorson and
Eric Erlenmeyer that took second (1:34.61).
Elbert Chuang won the 200-yard breaststroke in 2 minutes, 5.66 seconds.
Tyler Penney wasn't far behind and claimed third place with a time of 2:11.91. Ryan claimed fourth place in the event with the finishing time of 2:12.37.
Josh Sorbe captured second place in the 1650-yard freestyle with a finishing time of 17:14.66.
The 400-yard freestyle relay team of Thorson,
Wyatt Thompson, Padgett and Erlenmeyer took first with a finish of 3:07.72.
On the diving board for the men,
Isaac Morris finished second in the one-meter with 308.00 and captured the three-meter dive with 311.85.
South Dakota continues its season at the Iowa State Tri-Duals in Ames, Iowa, at 11 a.m. Friday.
