WAYNE, Neb.–South Dakota senior
Danielle Waldner placed third in the hammer throw to highlight day two action at the Wildcat Outdoor Classic at LeRoy Simpson Track on Sunday.
Waldner finished as the second collegiate and third overall in the field with a throw of 175 feet, 1 inch. The mark is a season best, improving her throw from the Baldy Castillo last weekend by nearly three feet. The senior from Redfield, S.D., holds the USD school record at 190-4.
Junior
Lara Boman launched the hammer 159-11 in her first time out. Boman placed sixth overall. Freshman
Emilee Shostrom and sophomore
Mary Wester placed 11th and 13th, respectively.
Sophomore
Liam Hennessy paced the Coyote men with a throw of 157-3 for 11th place. Sophomore
Ben Hammer, a transfer from Dakota Wesleyan, recorded a new personal best of 145-11 for 15th. Hammer captured the discus at the Wildcat Classic on Saturday.
South Dakota competes at the 90th Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays on Thursday through Saturday.
