SAN MARCOS, Texas–South Dakota freshman
Britny Kerr sits atop the heptathlon standings after the first day of action at the Texas State Bobcat Invitational on Thursday at Bobcat Stadium.
Kerr has tallied 3,173 points through the first four of seven events. The freshman improved her season best for the 100-meter hurdles to 14.45 seconds and was just shy of her personal best in the high jump with a clearance of 5-4 ¼. She clocked 25.65 seconds for 200 meters and threw the shot put 39-2 ½. The long jump, javelin throw and 800 meters remain on day two.
Sophomore
Haley Bruggeman sits in fourth place with 2,655 points. She clocked 15.10 seconds for the 100-meter hurdles and 26.38 for 200 meters.
Freshman
Jordan Fujan is in 10th place following the first day of competition in the decathlon with 3,011 points. He took third in the high jump with a clearance of 6-3 ¼. During the indoor season, Fujan took seventh in the heptathlon at the Summit League Championships.
The multi-events continue at the Bobcat Invitational at 8:30 a.m. Friday. The Coyotes compete in open events beginning at 3 p.m. Friday.
