SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — The South Dakota women's golf team improved for the third-straight round in the final round of the Missouri State Payne Stewart Memorial Tuesday in Springfield, Missouri. The Coyotes shot a 298 to move to sixth place in the tournament after starting the day in ninth.
Karli Kerrigan led the South Dakota charge with a three round 225 to finish in a tie for 15
th. She shot a 75 in the final round to combine with her first two rounds of 76 and 74, respectively.
Lexi Petersen saw improvement in each round after firing a first round 78. She lowered her score to a 75 in the second round and a 74 in the final round to finish in a tie for 26
th place with a three round 227.
Jennifer Vincent tallied 230 strokes over the three rounds to place tied for 37
th with her third round 75.
Sunny Kilian saw the biggest jump of the day for the Coyotes, and second biggest in the field, improving by 16 positions with her final round 74. She finished with 237 strokes to end in a tie for 56
th position.
The final point scorer for South Dakota was
Katie Bartlett with a 245 to finish tied for 72
nd.
Senior
Abby Dufrane, playing as an individual, saw a 14-position jump in the final round with her 75. She ended tied for 44
th with a three-round 237.
Memphis claimed the team title with an 874 over the three rounds led by individual winner Michaela Fletcher with a -1 on the par-71 Twin Oaks Country Club. Fletcher was the only golfer in the field to shoot under par.
The Coyotes are off for the next 12 days when they will travel to Massachusetts for the Boston College Intercollegiate September 24 and 25.
