Lara Boman broke school records as 10 Coyotes won their respective events in the season opener on Friday night at the SDSU Holiday Open inside the Sanford Jackrabbit Athletic Complex.
Anderson leaped 7 feet, 1 ½ inches, to win the high jump and tie a 28-year-old school record held by Kyle Collins (1990). The junior cleared an inch higher than his previous indoor best from last season. The mark is also a quarter-inch shy of Anderson's all-time personal best from the outdoor season last year. Jack Durst placed third in the competition by clearing 6-8 ¾.
Spencer broke the school record in the 60-meter dash with a clocking of 7.54 seconds. She improved her personal best by .02 seconds to surpass Analisa Huschle's school record of 7.55 seconds from 2012. Spencer also won the long jump at the meet with a leap of 19-8 ¼.
Boman launched the weight throw 66-6 ½ to break her own school record by three feet. She was the second collegiate competitor and fifth overall.
The Coyotes swept the top-six places in the women's 3,000 meters. Senior
Megan Billington won the event with a time of 10:02.07 while senior
Madeline Huglen finished runner-up in 10:05.97. Senior

Eldon Warner, named the Summit League Cross Country Athlete of the Year yesterday, kicked off the indoor season with a win in the 3,000 meters. He clocked 8:39.88, a time 30 seconds shy of his own school record.
Redshirt-freshman
Landon Kemp captured the pole vault with a height of 13-3 ½. The height ranks seventh in USD program history. Freshman
Deidra Marrison made her debut with a third-place finish in 12-9 ½.
South Dakota swept the top-three spots of the men's pole vault. Junior

Senior
Ben Hammer took first in the shot put with a throw of 55-10 1/4.
Danielle Thompson won the 400 meters in 57.96 seconds, an indoor best for the sophomore.
Sophomores
Macy Heinz and
Morgan Lawler went 1-2 in the 1,000 meters. Heinz took first in the event with a time of 2:59.64 while Lawler finished just behind in 3:05.20.
Senior
Jacob Simmons rounded out USD's victories on Friday night by capturing the 1,000-meter run. He clocked 2:38.87 in the event.
Sophomore
Callie Henrich placed second in the shot put with a personal best throw of 47-1 ½. The mark ranks eighth in program history.
Senior
Ethan Fenchel finished runner-up in the weight throw with a distance of 65-10 ¼.
With a pair of runner-up finishes, junior
Britny Kerr took second in both the high jump and the 60-meter hurdles. She cleared 5-5 in the high jump and clocked 8.84 seconds in the 60 hurdles.
Senior
Joe Reagan took second in the 60-meter dash with a time of 6.88 seconds, a time just .04 seconds shy of his personal record.
Senior
Karina Dufoe posted a pair of third-place finishes at the meet. She clocked a personal best of 7.62 seconds in the 60-meter dash, tying for fourth in USD program history. She clocked 25.01 seconds for third in the 200 meters.
South Dakota's women lead the team competition with 56.5 points ahead of Minnesota's 30 and South Dakota State's 26. The Coyote men are second with 37 points behind SDSU's 58.
South Dakota track and field returns to action after the holidays on Jan. 11-12 in Iowa City, Iowa, with the Hawkeye Invitational.
