Calling All Coyotes

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The fifth annual Calling All Coyotes Auction - A Red Tie Event, held on April 13 at the Sioux Falls Convention Center raised more than $360,000, which will help support the Howling Pack and University of South Dakota student-athlete scholarships. The event is an evening of celebration dedicated to the achievements of USD student-athletes while recognizing a community that has helped create opportunities for their success.

"This was a great evening to recognize and celebrate the outstanding accomplishments of our student-athletes while raising money to support their scholarships," Director of Athletics David Herbster said. "Friends and fans of USD and Coyote Athletics continue to come together and make an incredible impact through their show of support. Calling All Coyotes keeps getting better through the hard work of dedicated volunteers and staff."

Despite a mid-April blizzard that affected much of the Midwest, more than 600 people attended the event emceed by Jay Elsen and South Dakota alumna Kelly Stewart of Midco Sports Network.

In addition to a robust silent auction, Wayne Haines auctioneered the live auction that featured a helmet and jersey signed by former Coyote quarterback Chris Streveler, a trip to the 2019 Final Four, memorabilia from President James W. Abbott and numerous vacation packages to popular destinations throughout the United States. A surprise package included a golf trip for four to Sutton Bay with new USD men's basketball coach Todd Lee. The evening also included live music from the Hegg Brothers, drinks, hors d'oeuvres and dinner.

"On behalf of the athletic development team and the University of South Dakota, I'd like to thank the Howling Pack Board, all Calling All Coyotes committee members, The Event Company and the volunteers who put in countless hours to make this evening a tremendous success," Associate Athletic Director for Development Andy Carr said. "The funds raised through this event will positively impact student-athletes at USD.

"The passion and excitement around USD Athletics are clearly evident, and the level of success this event achieved could not have been done without the extraordinary support of our donors and sponsors."

The presenting sponsor of the event was CorTrust Bank. Event sponsors include: Cutler Law Firm, Sanford Health, First PREMIER Bank/PREMIER Bankcard, Maguire Iron, Eide Bailly, Daktronics, First Dakota National Bank, Conkling Distributing, Coyote Sports Properties, RBC Wealth Management – James Clement, Schoeneman's, Grand Falls Casino & Golf Resort and RED Steakhouse.
