VERMILLION, S.D.—Three Coyote alumna in Bridget Yoerger (2009), Nicole Seekamp (2016) and
Abigail Fogg (2017) shined overseas this past season, racking up league awards and averaging double figures on the court.
Yoerger wrapped up her ninth professional season and first year with the Musel Pikes in Luxembourg, Seekamp returned to her native Australia to play for the Adelaide Lightning and Fogg completed her first year of professional basketball with the BBC Troistorrents in Switzerland.
After six seasons with AB Contern, Yoerger mixed things up by signing with another Luxembourg team, the Musel Pikes, for 2017-18. She averaged 16.1 points and 12.5 rebounds en route to being named to the All-Luxembourg League first team and garnering Center of the Year honors in 2018. The Musel Pikes finished third in the league this season.
"AB Contern felt like home to me after so long," Yoerger said. "I knew all the fans and younger players, but sometimes change is a good thing. Luckily, Luxembourg is a small country and I knew most of my new teammates, so I was really excited for the change."
Yoerger has been named to her league's first or second team in all nine seasons of playing professionally. The Luxembourg League Player of the Year in 2016 has averaged 18.8 points and 11.6 rebounds during her time in Luxembourg.
Seekamp garnered Women's National Basketball League (WNBL) second-team honors after returning to Australia. Her familiar stat line included 13.2 points, 5.1 assists, 4.2 rebounds and 2.4 steals per game in her first season with the Adelaide Lightning. The guard ranked fourth in the WNBL for assists and steals per game.
"My first season with the Lightning went well," Seekamp said. "We did not do as great as we wanted to, but it was a fun year with some great teammates."
The Adelaide Lightning finished fifth in the WNBL in 2018 with an 11-10 record. The Lightning improved from a three-win season the year prior to Seekamp's signing.
The rookie of the group, Fogg started at center for the BBC Troistorrents of Switzerland.
"My first season went really well," Fogg said. "I enjoyed the lifestyle, meeting locals and learning about the culture. It was hard work, but I enjoyed being able to devote my time and fully invest in basketball."
Fogg averaged 12.3 points and 9.3 rebounds per game in her first professional season. She shot an impressive 53.6 percent from the floor and picked up honorable mention accolades in the Swiss Basketball League (SBL).
"My favorite memory was going to the 'Le Combat de Reines' or 'the fight of the Queens'," said Fogg. "In Switzerland there is a breed of cow called Herens. The females of this breed naturally fight for hierarchy in their herd every spring. An annual event is held where owners bring their cows to fight for the title le Reine de Reines [Queen of Queens]. This is all natural and unprovoked by humans. If the farmers did not arrange an event, the cows would still fight it out. The most amazing thing to me is the community surrounding the sport and the love that owners and locals have for the cows."
The BBC Troistorrents posted a 14-7 record last season for second place in the SBL. Fogg scored a season-high 27 points against Winterthur in the semifinals to lift BBC Troistorrents into the league finals.
"I am currently a free agent, but I plan to continue playing," Fogg said of the future.
Seekamp will return to Adelaide next season.
"It feels great to re-sign with the Lightning," Seekamp said. "I think we have some unfinished business from last season and I think with the team Chris [Lucas] has put together, we can accomplish big things. I am hoping to bring the leadership and energy on the defensive end of the floor."
Yoerger has re-signed with the Musel Pikes in Luxembourg for 2018-19.
"Next season will be my 10th year of professional basketball," Yoerger said. "The core of our team is still the same, so I am looking forward to building on from last season and going for the championship before I decide to finally retire."
