SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – South Dakota sophomore guard
Stanley Umude has been named the Summit League Player of the Week the league announced Monday.

The native of San Antonio, Texas, scored 26 points and grabbed seven rebounds in the Coyotes' 87-73 victory over Purdue Fort Wayne Sunday. Umude went 11-of-18 from the field for 61.1 percent to tally his game-high performance, which handed Purdue Fort Wayne its first Summit loss of the season. Playing all 40 minutes, he dished four assists and added a steal.

In Summit League action, Umude ranks third in the league with an average of 20.5 points per game. In the midst of a breakout season, he is averaging a team-high 12.9 points per game and has scored in double figures in seven-straight contests.

South Dakota begins a three-game road trip at Oral Roberts on Thursday. Following games at Omaha and North Dakota, the Coyotes return to the Sanford Coyote Sports Center on Saturday, Jan. 26, to host Western Illinois.
