NORMAN, Oklahoma – South Dakota women's tennis team closed out its fall schedule with the ITA Regionals hosted by the University of Oklahoma.
The Coyotes had four players participate in the event, juniors
Jana Lazarevic and
Emma Tranberg along with sophomore
Sille Tranberg and freshman
Berta Girbau.
Lazarevic dropped both of her matches in the main draw, a strong 128 person field. She fell to Arkansas State's Pornpawee Pramethong in three sets (6-7, 7-6, 6-4) and then suffered a 6-2, 6-3 setback to Wichita State's Natsumi Kurahashi.
Sille Tranberg and Girbau each posted 1-1 marks while
Emma Tranberg dropped both of her matches in a third set super tie-break.
Sille Tranberg opened with a 6-5, 7-6 win over North Dakota's Allie Ochoterna before falling to Wichita State's Marta Bellucco, 6-1, 6-0.
Girbau dropped her opening match against Oral Roberts' Ivana Babic, 7-5, 6-2 before posting a win in the consolation side of the bracket over North Dakota's Alex Revenig, 6-2, 6-1.
Emma Tranberg fell 10-4 in the third set tie-break to Arkansas State's Amelia Guevremont and 10-6 in the third set tie-break to Missouri State's Taylor Shaw.
The Coyotes doubles teams of Lazarevic and
Sille Tranberg along with Girbau and
Emma Tranberg each dropped opening matches.
