Coyotes Finish 13th in New Mexico State Aggie Invitational

WG: Aggie Invite Final Round

LAS CRUCES, N.M. – Competing in the final round of the Aggie Invitational on Wednesday afternoon, South Dakota fired a 309 to finish 13th overall on the New Mexico State Golf Course, tallying a three-round total of 934 (317-308-309).

The Coyotes were one of three Summit League members competing in the tournament alongside South Dakota State and North Dakota; the Jackrabbits placed fifth, while the Fighting Hawks took 15th. Host New Mexico State (296-281-284-861) pulled away from second-place Utah Valley on the final day of the event, winning by 33 strokes as a team after a four-under 284 in the third round. Amelia McKee (75-67-69-211) claimed medalist honors for the Aggies as well, topping teammate Dominique Galloway by four strokes on the player leaderboard.

Laerke Jensen logged her second top-25 finish of the fall and fired three of her four lowest rounds of the season in the event, tying for 23rd with a three-round total of 227 (75-76-76). Jensen's 227 is her best 54-hole total of the fall and the third best of her career.

Julia Hall tied for 42nd overall on the player leaderboard, carding a third-round 79 to finish at 232 (78-75-79) for the tournament. Megan Munneke's 235 (82-74-79) was her top score of the fall by four strokes and her best 54-hole total overall since firing a 232 in the 2019 Summit League Championship in April.

The Coyotes' low round of the final day came from Emma Sabbagh, whose final round 75 pushed her nine spots up the leaderboard and was her third-best single round of the fall; Sabbagh closed the event at 244 (82-87-75).

Jalea Culliver, the lone freshman on South Dakota's squad for the event, rounded out the tournament with a 255 (85-83-87).

South Dakota will be off for nine days before closing out its fall schedule between Oct. 18-20 at the Louisville Cardinal Cup in Louisville, Ky. The Coyotes will then take the winter off from competition before resuming tournament play at the Gunrock Invitational hosted by UC Davis in early March.
