VERMILLION, S.D.—South Dakota women's basketball ranks first in the CollegeInsider.com Mid-Major poll for the third-straight week.
The Coyotes are ranked for the 34th consecutive poll and sit at No. 1 for the fourth time. South Dakota received 29 of the 31 first-place votes.
South Dakota is coming off a pair of dramatic overtime wins last week. The Coyotes edged third-ranked Drake in overtime on Wednesday night, followed by an overtime win on the Pac-12 Utah's home court. The Coyotes are 4-0 this season with three true road wins to start the year. Senior guard
Ciara Duffy received the Summit League Player of the Week honors for the second-straight week. She's averaging 20.3 points, 6.8 rebounds and 6.0 assists through the first four games.
Both of last week's games were sent to extra time by junior guard
Monica Arens. She floated in a buzzer beater against Drake to tie it up at 82. Then on the road at the Pac-12's Utah, she drew contact to earn a pair of free throws with 12 seconds left. She sank both to tie the game, then blocked Utah's 3-point attempt in the final second. She tallied a career high 17 points against the Utes.
The Coyotes host a pair of 2019 NCAA Tournament teams up next. The SEC's Missouri visits at 7 p.m. Thursday, while No. 22 Missouri State (fourth in the mid-major poll) comes to town Monday for a 7 p.m. tip-off. Tickets are available on
