Men’s basketball signs Koulamallah

MBB: Koulamallah Signs NLI

VERMILLION, S.D.—South Dakota head men's basketball coach Todd Lee is pleased to announce that Khalifa Koulamallah, a 6-foot-4-inch shooting guard from Gatineau, Quebec, has signed a national letter of intent to compete for the Coyotes.

Koulamallah averaged 10.4 points and 4.3 rebounds in leading Vanier College and coach Andrew Hertzog to an undefeated 2018-19 season in the RSEQ league, a collection of colleges in Quebec. He shot better than 43 percent from beyond the arc and averaged nearly three 3-pointers per game. He also averaged a block and a steal.

"We are really excited to add Khalifa to our program," said Lee. "He is a high-level shooter with good size on the wing who impacts the game with his defense, rebounding and shot blocking. He comes from a championship program at Vanier College and played an integral role on last year's undefeated team. Khalifa's best basketball is ahead of him, and he will be an impactful player for the Coyotes."

Koulamallah competed for coach Shane James on Canada Elite in the summer of 2019. He shot 48 percent from 3-point range and averaged five made 3's per game at the UAA Finals in Atlanta, Georgia.

Koulamallah intends to study business and pursue an MBA at University of South Dakota.
