SIOUX FALLS – South Dakota swimming and diving team members
Sarah Schank and
Caden DeLay were named Summit League athletes of the week the league announced on Tuesday.
Schank, a senior, continued her dominance in the two diving events, posting wins in both during the Coyote invite held at Midco Aquatic Center in Sioux Falls. It's the 10
th career honor and the fourth consecutive for the Cottage Grove, Minnesota, native who leads the Summit League in both the one and three-meter events.
Schank, a NCAA Zone Diving Qualifier in both events, posted scores of 256.15 in the one-meter and 287.40 in the three-meter.
DeLay, a freshman, had a hand in four victories during the course of the two-day meet. The Columbia, Missouri, native, posted individual personal bests in three events (100 breaststroke, 200 breaststroke and 50 free), winning both breaststroke events.
His 56.95 clocking in the 100 breaststroke moved him into seventh on the all-time school chart while he swam to times of 2:08.27 in the 200 breaststroke and 22.14 in the 50 free. He swam in four relays during the meet, two of which (200 medley, 200 free) earned victories.
The next competition for the Coyotes is the Summit League Championships on Feb. 20-23 in Sioux Falls.
