MACOMB, Ill.—South Dakota senior
Kimmy Peterson and junior
Britny Kerr brought home a pair of vertical jump titles on Thursday at the 2019 Summit League Championships held at Hanson Field.
Peterson survived a cold, three-hour long vaulting competition that included a multi-bar jump-off to win it all in 13 feet, 6 ½ inches. She initially tied with UND's Kyley Foster, with both making the bar on the same attempt and having an equal number of misses. The pair went into a sudden-death jump-off with Peterson eventually coming out victorious, extending USD's streak of consecutive Summit outdoor pole vault titles to six. Joining her on the podium for the pole vault was freshman
Deidra Marrison in third place with a height of 13-2 ½. Junior
Helen Falda took fourth as USD tallied 21 points in the event.
