VERMILLION, S.D.—The University of South Dakota will host the first home triathlon meet in program history this weekend. The USD Invitational is slated for 9 a.m. Sunday at Lake Yankton in Yankton, South Dakota.
The Course
The USD Invitational will be centralized around the transition area at Lake Yankton Beach. The race begins with a 750-meter swim in Lake Yankton, which consists of two 375-meter loops in the lake. The bike will be an out-and-back course with a pair of 180-degree turns. The course consists of four 5-kilometer loops along Toe Road that begin at Lake Yankton Beach and extend past the Cottonwood Recreation Area. The race will be capped off with a 5,000-meter run made up of two loops along the Lake Yankton Multi-Purpose trail from the beach to where the trail meets Toe Road. The spectator-friendly course will provide fans the opportunity to see athletes in action multiple times near the transition area.
The Schedule
The transition area will open at 7:15 a.m. Sunday with warm-ups to follow. Teams will be lined up at 8:50 a.m. and then called down to the start. The gun will go off for the first leg of the race at 9 a.m.

Signage and parking staff will assist fans attending the event with finding a place to park near the start of the course. There are a handful of lots within walking distance of the race site. The address below can be used to navigate to the race site.
