SIOUX FALLS, S.D. -- The South Dakota men's golf team was picked fourth in The Summit League Preseason Poll, the league office announced Thursday. Matt Tolan was tabbed as USD's golfer to watch.

Denver amassed 62 points and seven first-place votes to place first while North Dakota State (56) and Oral Roberts (50) earned one first-place vote and rounded out the top three. Omaha (34) was tabbed fifth while South Dakota State (33), Purdue Fort Wayne (22), Western Illinois (16) and North Dakota (10) rounded out the remaining four spots.

The Coyotes are led by Tolan who shot an average of 72 during the fall season in 12 rounds of golf. Tolan shot a season-low 4-under in the second round of the Visit Stockton Pacific Invite while fellow teammate Ben Hicks also shot a season-low 4-below par in the third round of the Bubba Barnett Intercollegiate. Hicks averaged a 74 in 12 rounds of golf while Justin Kolb has second-lowest scoring average at 73 in 12 rounds of action as well.

The Yotes tied for second place at the Summit golf championships last season with a score of +25 while placing three in the top-20.

South Dakota opens its season on Feb. 14 in Palm City, Florida, at the UNC Greensboro Martin Downs Collegiate.
