Stella Fairbanks have been named Summit League athletes of the week, the league announced on Tuesday.
Leichner, a junior, earns male swimmer of the week honors for the second time in his career. The Highlands Ranch, Colorado, native, had a part in six victories during the Coyote Extravaganza at the Midco Aquatic Center.
He became the first Coyote ever to break the four-minute barrier in the 400 IM, setting the school record with a time of 3:59.54. He also swam to first in the 100 breast (56.69) while taking part in four winning relays, the 200 medley, 400 medley, 200 free and 400 free.
Davenport, a junior from Arvada, Colorado, won a pair of individual races and swam on two winning relays. She earns her first career female swimmer of the week honor.
She raced to wins in the 100 breast (1:06.29) and the 200 breast (2:27.56) while swimming the breaststroke leg on the winning 200 medley and 400 medley relays.
Fairbanks, a freshman, made her collegiate debut by winning two of the three diving events contested. The Highland, Michigan, native, triumphed on the one-meter board during both Friday and Saturday's competition. She posted scores of 215.50 on Friday and came back to score 242.25 on Saturday. She also finished third in the three-meter event with a point total of 216.25.
