Senior women's basketball player Liv Korngable and Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Medicine Bruce Fischbach are the guests on this week's "YoteCast," the official podcast of Coyote athletics hosted by John Thayer.
 
Korngable is coming off her first career starts in which she averaged 18 points per game and was named to the all-tournament team. With Thayer, she discusses how her role has evolved in her time at USD, playing without fans in the stands, and who helped instill her work ethic. Korngable also talks about her internship in the weight room and how she hopes to translate that into her application to physical therapy school.
 
Fischbach walks fans through all things COVID. He notes one of the first steps he and his staff took was to become certified to administer COVID tests and the advantages that skill provides student-athletes and the department. He also discusses testing, contact tracing and the support athletes receive should they test positive. He also talks about changes under COVID, how testing works with opponents and the simple steps he believes we can take to end this pandemic.
 
But we start as we always do with athletic director David Herbster, who starts by discussing his enthusiasm for the return of Coyote sports. Herbster also talks about the new attendance policy for December and, in the ask the AD section, you'll learn the one song he hopes not to hear at the game on Sunday.

Thayer has been the voice of South Dakota women's basketball for the last seven seasons and a sideline reporter for Coyote football for the past five seasons. Starting this year, Thayer will serve as the play-by-play announcer for both Coyote football and Coyote men's basketball.
