SIOUX FALLS – South Dakota senior
Sabrina Sabadeanu raced to a runner-up finish in the 100 back on day three of the Summit League swimming and diving championships presented by the U.S. Air Forces Special Operations.
Sabadeanu earns individual all-conference honors for the fifth time in her career after she swam 57.00 in the final on Friday inside the Midco Aquatic Center.
Sabadeanu was one of three Coyotes to earn individual all-conference honors on Friday while both the men's and women's 400 medley relay squads also earned all-league nods.
The Coyotes, meanwhile, remained in second place in both the men's and women's team standings heading into the final day of competition on Saturday.
Lucie Anderson, a sophomore, earned her first individual all-conference honor of her career as she was just .02 seconds behind Sabadeanu to the wall in the 100 back. Anderson's 57.02 clocking, a new personal best, moved her up to fourth on the school's all-time charts.
Brady Torborg, a sophomore, earned his first individual all-conference honor following a third-place finish in the 100 back. Torborg's finals time was 49.99 while he matched his school-record time of 49.47 in the prelims.
Torborg joined teammates
Jake Leichner,
Elbert Chuang and
Zachary Kopp in the 400 medley relay that set a new school record in 3:19.59 while finishing second to earn all-conference honors.
The women's 400 medley relay quartet of Sabadeanu,
Isabelle Davenport,
Maddie Lavin and
Jordyn Schnell also earned all-league honors following a runner-up finish in 3:48.51.
New Coyote top 10 marks on day three came from
Leah Drengenberg in the 400 IM where her 10
th-place clocking of 4:33.47 is sixth all-time and
Mack Sathre, who swam 4:07.89 to finish ninth in the 400 IM and move into ninth all-time.
Two more individuals moved up on the top 10 list as
Wyatt Thompson swam 1:41.18 in the 200 free prelims to move up to a tie for fifth with Leichner and
Emily Johnson moved up one spot to ninth following a 1:54.26 effort in the 200 free finals.
Top eight performances on the women's side came from
Meghan Atwell, who was fifth in the 100 breast in 1:04.94 and teammate Davenport who was sixth in 1:05.04.
Isabel Fairbanks was fifth in the 100 back in 57.87.
Seth O'Dea finished fourth (297.65) in the 1-meter diving competition where teammate
Anthony Mudek was sixth (265.25) and
William Johnston eighth (248.85).
Griffin Wolner (4:05.30) and
Jacob Won (4:06.83) finished fifth and sixth, respectively in the 400 IM. Leichner was fifth (56.38) and Chuang eighth (56.98) in the 100 breast.
