VERMILLION, S.D. – South Dakota women's tennis coach
Brett Barnett is pleased to announce that Estella Jaeger will be joining the Coyotes roster in the spring of 2022.
Â
Jaeger, who hails from Delbrueck, Germany, will enroll at South Dakota in the spring as a graduate transfer from the University of Southern California, and will have three seasons of eligibility remaining.
Â
"It was a great day for the program when Estella told me she wanted to be a Coyote," said Barnett. "It's huge for us getting a Power five player from USC to be a grad transfer here.
Â
"It was very clear when we first started talking how driven she is both athletically and academically. I could tell right away that she wanted to be in a program where she could make an impact daily and would fit in really well here in our culture."
Â
Jaeger was a member of two Sweet 16 appearances for the Trojans while she accumulated her first WTA double's ranking during her career.
Â
"Estella is really dedicated on court, always looking to improve, and is going to make everyone around her a better player, said Barnett. "We're also getting a great person who is going to represent USD and Coyote Tennis with high standards.Â
Â
"She's proven herself at the highest levels of tennis being a top junior player in Germany, winning a German national championship and playing for a Top 20 team in the country at USC in the PAC 12. She has such a strong all-court game, big heavy forehand, is very athletic and is an extremely strong doubles player. Her game is going to translate well here with the amount of indoor tennis that we play. I cannot wait for Jaeger to arrive on campus in January and help us achieve our goals."
