NEW ORLEANS—South Dakota women's cross country is ranked No. 14 in the Midwest region by the U.S. Track and Field & Cross Country Coaches Association.
South Dakota finished third as a team at the Summit League Championships last Saturday at Holland Hall in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The Coyotes are one of three Summit teams in the regional rankings, joining South Dakota State (12) and North Dakota State (13).

Abby Ripperda, second-year freshman
Abrielle Jirele and fourth-year junior
Maddie Lavin earned all-Summit League second team honors in the race. Ripperda was eighth with a time of 21:56.14, while Jirele was just .03 behind her in ninth place. Lavin took 13th in 22:16.12.
South Dakota is ranked in the Midwest for the fourth time this fall.
The NCAA Midwest Regional is next on the slate for the Coyotes. The race is slated for 11 a.m. on Nov. 12 in Iowa City, Iowa.
