BROOKINGS, S.D.—South Dakota fourth-year junior
Jessie Sullivan was the top collegian in the men's discus to highlight the second day of action at the SDSU Holiday Open inside the Sanford Jackrabbit Athletic Complex. The Coyotes totaled 11 event titles at the two-day meet.
Sullivan launched the discus 168-2 ¼ (51.26m) in the competition for second overall and first place as a collegian. The overall winner was Coyote alumnus
Ben Hammer with a throw of 188-4 ¼ (57.41m). Fifth-year senior
Matt Slagus was fourth overall with a throw of 158-1 ¼ (48.19m).
Third-year sophomore
Lydia Knapp led the Coyotes in the women's discus with a fifth-place finish. She sent it 146-10 ¾ (44.77m).
Fifth-year senior
Noah Weeter completed his first indoor heptathlon. He tallied 4,055 points for fourth place. Weeter took first in the 60-meter hurdle race of the competition with a time of 8.73 seconds.
South Dakota returns to action in the new year, traveling to Iowa City, Iowa, for the Black & Gold Invitational Jan. 14-15.
